We know that being a mom is much more than a job. It’s a full-time-never-get-a-break-don’t-put-that-in-your-mouth-no-means-no-lifestyle filled with ups and downs, laughs and tears and memories by the minute. Sure, it can be confusing and completely overwhelming at times, but hey, that’s why we’re here.
The two Jen’s originally created this site, and now a team of moms with different views will add to this daily blog. Our goal is to make this the ultimate resource for Charlotte moms and moms-to-be on a variety of activities, events and motherhood-related topics (best deals on hip new products, navigating the school systems, kids eat free, etc). This is a place for us to share as well as our readers, and we don’t pretend to know everything here. But, we’ll try our best to provide you with plenty of info we’ve learned through research, trial and, unfortunately, error.
What’s Courtenay’s story? I want to know more about Jen. I think I know Krista from somewhere, but where? Find out everything you ever wanted to know (and some things you didn’t) about our talented and insightful bloggers who know an awful lot about kids’ stuff and the latest goings on around town. We’re moms, wives, co-workers, friends, people in the know and, best of all, your guides on this crazy little thing we call Charlotte Smarty Pants.
Smarties, we’re thrilled to introduce you to TWO Smarty Moms this week, the women behind the fab children’s boutique serving Lake Norman and the Greater Charlotte Area, Elliott Gray. Meet Sara Gray and Kate Stables – we bow down to these ladies for helping bring fashion and fun to children’s attire in the LKN area!
Mom of: Harrison Hollingsworth Gray
Married to: David H. Gray
Years in LKN: 6 great years
Hometown: Vicksburg, MS
Occupation: Owner of Elliott Gray, mom, and wife
Elliott Gray came about because both Kate and I are from very southern towns along the MS river. Kate is from Memphis, TN and myself from Vicksburg, MS. After moving into the LKN area and having young children, we began talking about all the beautifully hand smocked clothing we grew up with and how hard it is to find in this particular area. We really wanted to bring that great classic, traditional style to the families here in the area. Elliott Gray is all about beautiful, fun clothing for kids that is of durable construction and yet lends itself to a little whimsy that goes along with childhood.
We are currently carrying Funtasia Too, Little English, and Pixie Lily in clothing. For gifts we carry Aden and Anais and Smile for the Birdie. Our current sizes are from newborn up to a size 6 for both girls and boys. However, in the spring we will be going up to a size 12 for both girls and boys and picking up Claire and Charlie, Anavini, and VBee’s Boys. This last line is amazing!! It is just for boys and is out of North Carolina. It will be perfect for Easter, weddings, and all the other special occasions in the Spring.
We see Elliott Gray as a stand alone store in about two years carrying all the most popular lines and outfitting all the kids in the area! We also want to have a ‘traveling boutique’. This is the same idea as an ice cream truck that could go into neighborhoods around the city and set up for business for a day and then move on. It would be very chic and lovely inside our vehicle and cater to both parents and kids. We think this is an innovative approach to retail and are really excited about this option! Our long term goal would be to go into production ourselves and actually create the clothing we know and love!
Velcro! And Boogie Wipes-LOVE these!
Kate Middleton – I know she’s a girl, but I’m really obsessed!
After putting Harrison down at night, I love to put on all my recorded Housewives shows and eat chocolate chip cookies and wine. SO FUN!
The affirmation he gives me. I just melt with all those sweet nothings he tells me. I also LOVE dressing him!
Mom of: Elliott, 5 and Frances, 2
Married to: Scott Stables
Years in LKN: 10 years
Hood: The Peninsula
Hometown: Memphis, TN
Occupation: Mom and business owner
Elliott Gray fills the niche of simple, traditional, and quality children’s clothing for the Lake Norman area. We got started by talking after yoga class and both saying that there are not any traditional children’s clothing stores in the LKN area.
I would like to see the business grow and expand its lines and carry clothes for teens also.
I love Little English clothing.
